Quiet World: A Fusion of Futuristic and Natural Elements

Bill Xiong's Award-Winning Design Merges Technology and Nature

The inspiration behind the "Quiet World" design comes from Hangzhou's advanced electronic technology and lush vegetation. Xiong abstracted a concept from the root system of the internet and plants, creating a net-like ceiling using a wood structure. This design element is reminiscent of both a lush tropical rainforest and a network that links the future, providing different light and shadow effects with every step.

"Quiet World" is situated in the core area of Hangzhou, close to the Hangzhou Wetland Park. The design uniquely combines futuristic and natural elements, creating a serene and pure space. The primary colors used are pure wood and white, which instill a sense of calmness in the viewer. The design successfully merges an abstract future philosophy with a current view of nature, thus creating a captivating atmosphere.

The realization of this design involved large-scale art installations, art paintings, a wooden structure, and a marble background wall. The arched wooden grid structure at the top of the space presented a challenge, as it needed to be both independent and integrated. This technological experiment and breakthrough strengthened the connection between man and nature, conveying poetic imagination and perception, and inviting people to enjoy the artistic atmosphere.

Bill Xiong's design team included Bi Sheng, Plains, Jiang Xianglong, Luo Mi, XinZhongHua, and Nakagawa ZhuoShi. The project was completed in Hangzhou in December 2020. The design was inspired by famous landscapes such as Hangzhou West Lake Park and Wetland Park, aiming to create a poetic space that integrates technological elements with natural landscapes.

In conclusion, "Quiet World" is a testament to Bill Xiong's innovative design approach, blending futuristic and natural elements to create a serene, park-like community within the city.
